
Chapter History


The Maine chapter of ASHRAE was founded in 1972. Since it's inception, the chapter has been focused on providing continuing education, involvement in relevant research, and networking opportunities to the HVAC industry community.
The Maine chapter is one of 15 chapters in Region I, which is comprised of New England, New Jersey, and New York. ASHRAE is comprised of 15 Regions spanning around the globe.
ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904.
