About The Event

We will be touring the incineration facility at Maine Waste-to-Energy (formerly Mid Maine Waste Action Corporation), followed by dinner at Mac's Grill.

Please bring a hardhat and safety glasses. There will be some spares on site but not enough for the whole group so please bring your own. If you have extras please bring them as well so we can ensure everyone is protected.

Here's a little bit about the process from their website:

"We believe in addressing today’s waste needs today for the sake of future generations and work diligently to minimize landfill volumes and deliver a positive byproduct in the form of energy. Our process reduces trash volume by 90%, helps generate power, and controls pollution for our local Maine communities. The Maine Waste-to-Energy facility has two identical process trains, each with a capacity of 125 tons of municipal solid waste per day. We safely and dependably process approximately 72,000 tons of waste per year, creating clean, renewable energy." https://www.mainewastenergy.com/
